Starting production in 1942, this version as noted by the serial number and the NON-underlined "No." before the serial number, is part of the line Remington had made to be more interchangeable to the other 1911's in production as its earlier production line was not interchangeable with other brands parts to suit the U.S military's needs. Apparently during the NRA/DCM pistol sales they found a store of late Remington Rand 1911A1 pistols in the original shipping boxes.
